Delivering on our development ambitions

Clarion Housing Group is one of the UK’s largest developers of affordable housing. We build communities that work for the long-term and have a proud 100 year history.

The majority of the homes we build will always be affordable and last year (2019/20) 86% of all the homes we completed were for affordable tenures. Building homes for private sale is an important part of our strategy as well, as it allows us to develop mixed sustainable communities and recycle any profits we make back into the organisation and support the work of Clarion Futures, our charitable foundation.

Development at a glance:

  • In 2019/20, we completed 2,101 new homes, of which 86% were for affordable tenures.
  • In the same period, we started 2,572 homes, of which 83% were for affordable tenures.
  • The current development pipeline is in excess of 17,000 homes.

To deliver on our development ambitions, we have moved beyond the traditional model for housing associations. Rather than relying on Section 106 agreements, Clarion is also committed to delivering large strategic schemes through joint ventures or partnerships, with recent examples including a partnership with Vistry Group to build 1,000 homes near Northampton and a strategic joint venture partnership with Lovell Partnerships in the North West.
