Statement on Circle Housing’s proposed changes to terms and conditions

Alongside a wider programme to reduce our operating costs, one of the ways in which these efficiencies can be made is through implementing a single set of terms and conditions (T&Cs) for staff. There are currently over 20 different T&Cs across Circle Housing Group. The new proposed T&Cs have been benchmarked and remain competitive in the sector and wider job market, with a minimum of 25 days holiday rising to 30 days and contracted hours of 37 per week. In addition, key elements such as pay and pension are being protected until September 2017, and leave up to December 2017, to support existing staff affected by these changes.

Discussions with the Trade Unions have been ongoing since September 2015 and we look forward to receiving their written counter offer on the proposed T&Cs. Negotiations will be left open until April 2016, and we will be meeting with them weekly until then.

Mark Rogers, Chief Executive of Circle Housing commented, “We – alongside the sector as a whole – are implementing a number of changes in order to protect the long term financial viability of the organisation and continue our social purpose, to invest more in our homes and communities. We understand that change is difficult for staff, and are committed to supporting them through this period.”

A list of the full proposed T&Cs can be viewed here. This table outlines the current Circle Anglia T&Cs, our original proposed T&Cs, our revised proposed T&Cs after discussions with the Trade Unions and staff, and their initial counter proposals. Circle Housing is a Living Wage accredited employer.
