On Saturday 24 June, Clarion Housing Group staff was delighted to attend and support the London pride festival 2017.
The Clarion team were at the Pride festival as part of ‘House Proud’, the LGBT Network for staff in all of the G15 housing associations and also encompasses some of the smaller housing associations (HAs).
Colleagues and residents waved and cheered from the top deck of a red, open top bus while others formed a walking group who danced along to the music and handed out sweets to the crowds. There was a great atmosphere and the crowds of people lining the route of the parade were enjoying themselves, shouting and cheering as we passed.
On Sunday 25 June, we also attended Black Pride and enjoyed watching some amazing performance artists and speakers. We also walked around the stalls and chatted to other businesses about what they are doing to advance inclusion in their organisations.
The event ended with a nice relaxing picnic in the park to recover from all the excitement of the weekend! The rest was especially deserved by Lynne Nicholls, co-chair of the Clarion LGBTQ+ Network and co-chair of House Proud, who organised the whole event. We would like to say a big well done to Lynne!
This year, London Pride took place on Saturday 24 June and ended on Sunday 9 July 2017. For more information about the event, visit the Pride in London website.
