Open day on 13 January for shared ownership apartments at Ebbsfleet Garden City

Ebbsfleet Garden City Case StudyClarion Housing Group is launching a selection of new homes at Ebbsfleet Garden City aimed at first time buyers who are struggling to get on the property ladder.

This month, Clarion will release 29 two-bedroom apartments at its Castle Hill development which are available through shared ownership. An open day is being held on Saturday 13th January between 10am-4pm and prices start at as little as £91,000 for a 35 per cent share of a two-bedroom home, with a full market value of £260,000.

Last year the first 15 shared ownership homes were snapped up in a matter hours and we expect demand to be high once again.

Anna Sewell and her partner Anthony Swinden were among the first buyers to secure a Clarion home in the first tranche to be released at Castle Hill. The couple bought a 45 per cent share of three-bedroom house through shared ownership and they moved into the property last summer.

Anna, 37: "It feels wonderful having a home of our own. Prior to the purchase, we looked at other developments in the area but Castle Hill was always our first choice. We love the look of the homes and the way they are built. It feels like a new little village where everyone is so friendly."

She added: "Ebbsfleet Garden City is an ideal place to live for people who have a young family – a brand new school is close to being completed and there’s lots of green space for children to play.

On shared ownership, she said: "We couldn’t have afforded a home this big if we were buying on the private market. We plan to increase our share every two years and the aim is to own our home outright in 10 years’ time."
