Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group, has acquired a site in Salford Quays on which it will deliver 272 new apartments. The project will be Latimer’s largest development to date in the North West.

The Furness Quay site was purchased this week by Latimer from Fortis Group through a ‘land and package’ deal. Under this arrangement, Fortis Group’s construction company Beaumont Morgan will build the homes on Latimer’s behalf.

The scheme will see 219 homes for private sale and 53 homes for shared ownership replace a former car park. The units are a mix of ground floor duplexes and one, two, three-bedroom apartments.

The development has a Gross Development Value (GDV) of more than £57m and comes with full implementable planning. Beaumont Morgan is already on site delivering the successful earlier phases of the Fortis Quay scheme.

Richard White, director of land and planning for Latimer and Clarion Housing Group, said:

“We are committed to playing our part in fixing the country’s housing crisis and plan to build 50,000 homes across the country over ten years."

“This acquisition is a strong statement of our ambitions for the region and is another example of how we are buying land ourselves which can be turned into new homes – we call this a land-led approach."

"We are very excited to be playing a role in the transformation of Furness Quay. Our scheme will provide high quality homes for private sale but also shared ownership homes to help people make that first step onto the housing ladder."

Latimer’s scheme will form the final phase of the wider Fortis Quay development, where a total of 678 homes are being built.
