Merton Council has given the green light for 134 energy-efficient homes to be built on the High Path neighbourhood in South Wimbledon. Clarion Housing Group will deliver the homes on land previously used for garages and the ‘Old Lamp Works’ site.
Paul Quinn, Director of Merton Regeneration at Clarion Housing Group said: “We’re building these high-quality new homes for existing residents and at the same time providing additional homes in Merton at a time of unprecedented need.
We’ve been undertaking a wide-reaching consultation programme to make sure that everyone who lives or owns a property on High Path is able to view and comment on our proposals. We’ll continue with this process during construction of the new homes.”
Work is scheduled to start before the end of the year. Residents will be consulted about a programme of community development to be delivered alongside the regeneration. This will include employment opportunities, apprenticeships and training initiatives for local people.
