House Exchange service passes 50,000 new registrations in 12 months

House Exchange is today celebrating more than 50,000 new registrations in the last twelve months. As part of Clarion Housing Group, House Exchange facilitates introductions between social and council housing tenants who are looking to move home.

How House Exchange works

The process works through an online system, where tenants of 225 partner landlords can register for free to view homes and contact landlords to express an interest in moving. Straight swaps are available, as well as ‘multi-matches’, where chains of up to six properties can be connected and enable multiple households to move.

House Exchange is today (Tuesday 27th June) unveiling a new brand identity at the CIH Housing Conference in Manchester.

Manchester has seen especially strong growth over the last 12 months, recording a year on year increase in registrations of 508%. A key driver has been the participation of major landlords in the Greater Manchester region, including Great Places and Contour Homes.

Joe Hemmings, House Exchange Manager said: "I am delighted to be introducing the new House Exchange brand to the housing community here in Manchester. We are encouraged by the strong rise in registrations to the site, which works like a match making site for social housing. The more landlords that join us, the greater the range of homes we will be able offer to social housing tenants across the country."
