Progressing the UN SDGs
As the country’s biggest social landlord, with a mission to provide homes for those who need them most, we play a leading role in promoting sustainability.
We benchmark our work against a range of criteria and align it with the UN SDGs.
Sustainability rating agency imug | rating assesses and verifies our impact. In its review of our Sustainable Housing Finance Framework, it describes us as “an issuer with a positive overall sustainability performance.”
“Clarion’s sustainability strategy has been aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We want to set stretching targets that mean our business is truly sustainable in years to come.”

Our social impact
Our charitable foundation Clarion Futures runs a major social investment programme. This supports communities and helps people into work or training, develop digital skills, and manage their money. In 2021-22 we invested £14m in this programme. This generated a social return of £131m.
The work of Clarion Futures is part of our wider social impact. We were the first housing association in the UK to be accredited with the pan-European Certified Sustainable Housing Label. We’re making progress against 48 Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria after being an early adopter of the Sustainability Reporting Standard (SRS) for Social Housing.
Our annual social impact report shows how we’re making a difference to people and places.
