Working with suppliers and contractors
Clarion Housing Group works with more than 3,000 suppliers and contractors who help us in our mission to provide homes for those who need them most.
We use our buying power to drive social change. Delivering social value and making positive environmental impacts are key criteria for our major contracts.
Policies, procedures and contractual requirements are in place to ensure there’s no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain.
And all our suppliers sign up to our code of conduct.
Driving social change
We use our buying power to drive social change. Delivering social value and making positive environmental impacts are key criteria for our major procurements of goods, works and services.
And we have policies, procedures and contractual requirements in place to ensure there’s no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain.

We’re working with our supply chain to reduce waste, use less energy and water, and increase recycling and the use of sustainable materials.
Our suppliers and contractors are supporting our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and reach net zero by 2050. And our major contractors – Engie, Wates, and United Living – have to meet targets for levels of carbon emissions and waste.
Our Sustainable Development Roadmap sets out our expectations of companies we work with in building new homes.
Each year our contractors do hundreds of things to help our residents. These include providing apprenticeships or training sessions, donating equipment, and refurbishing community buildings.

The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply has given us a Gold level Procurement Excellence Programme award. This recognises the levels of effectiveness and efficiency within our major business functions.
We have a working group with our three main contractors - Engie, United Living, and Wates. This enables clear communication and collaboration to maximise efficiencies.
When we received a £4.5m government grant in 2021 to improve energy efficiency in some of our homes, our contractors Equans (part of the Engie Group) and United Living were onsite within weeks.
