100% affordable housing project in Brighton set to get underway

Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest social landlord, was on Wednesday 13 June granted full approval by Brighton and Hove City Council’s planning committee to build 125 affordable homes in Portslade.

The scheme, which is located on Graham Avenue, includes 28 homes for affordable rent and 97 homes for shared ownership. The plans also include widening the roundabout on Fox Way, a new footway on Mile Oak Road and new cycle routes to the surrounding area.

Clarion has appointed Thakeham Client Ltd to build the development which will be completed in early 2022.

Ian Hagger, New Business & Partnerships Director for Clarion Housing Group, said:

"At Clarion, we are committed to helping to tackle the housing crisis in Sussex and the surrounding areas.

"We are absolutely delighted to get the go-ahead to deliver this scheme which brings high quality, and much needed affordable housing to the area."
