Clarion Housing Group announces new partnership with St Mungo’s

The three-year partnership will raise funds and share expertise and resources to tackle homelessness. The UK’s largest provider of affordable housing, Clarion Housing Group, has announced a new three-year partnership with homelessness charity, St Mungo’s.

The partnership aims to not only raise funds for St Mungo’s, but also leverage shared expertise and resources to tackle the causes of homelessness and support people in their recovery.

One of the areas of focus over the next three years will be sharing knowledge on rough sleeping and looking for new ways to collaborate in Clarion communities.

Working together, Clarion and St Mungo’s staff will be helping to support vulnerable people off the streets, into homes and connecting them to specialist support services.

Kick-starting the partnership

The partnership has been kick-started by a £20,000 corporate donation from Clarion to enable St Mungo’s to purchase digital devices for service users, ensuring people can continue to access vital services and stay connected during the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak.

Clarion staff recently put together boxes including toiletries, food and gifts such as jigsaw puzzles, books and games for people being supported by St Mungo’s to self-isolate in a hotel or hostel room, demonstrating how the partnership will adapt to meet changing needs.

St Mungo’s will be providing volunteering opportunities for Clarion staff, and the funds raised through the partnership will help the charity to provide essential care and support to clients across the country. For questions during each session.

“I am thrilled to be working more closely with St Mungo’s to drive fundraising and build a lasting strategic partnership.”

Clare Miller, chief executive of Clarion Housing Group

Clare Miller, chief executive of Clarion Housing Group, said:

“Clarion’s history goes back more than 100 years and core to our mission is providing homes to those who are in greatest need and would otherwise be at risk of homelessness.

“I am thrilled to be working more closely with St Mungo’s to drive fundraising and build a lasting strategic partnership. We have a huge opportunity to work together to tackle homelessness and move people off the streets and into secure homes.”

Steve Douglas CBE, chief executive of St Mungo’s, said:

“We are delighted to announce this new partnership, which will have immediate effect by helping support our clients during the pandemic and thereafter. "

“The generous donation will help clients to keep in contact with key workers, health services and family and friends."

“Housing associations make an important contribution to our work as a homelessness charity. Longer term, we are looking forward to working closely with Clarion to support our mission to end homelessness and rebuild lives.”

Forefront of tackling homelessness

For over 50 years, St Mungo’s has been at the forefront of efforts to tackle homelessness. Each night the charity’s 17 outreach teams go out to help people sleeping rough to move away from the streets, providing a bed and support to over 2,850 people.

St Mungo’s works to prevent homelessness and support people at every step of their recovery from homelessness.
