Clarion delivers 35 new affordable homes in Hertfordshire

Residents have moved into their new affordable homes at a development in Hertfordshire, which gained national recognition for the quality of its design and construction.

Clarion Housing, the UK’s largest social landlord, has delivered 35 new homes for affordable rent and shared ownership at its Bricket Wood scheme, on Barnes Wallis Way.

The homes form part of Crest Nicholson’s wider Lancaster Grange development, which is the first in the country to receive the Home Quality Mark (HMQ) standard.

The ‘five star’ impartial rating, developed by the BRE (Building Research Establishment), provides residents with the added assurance that their new homes are designed and built to the highest standards.

Clarion’s homes benefit from special solar panels, known as photovoltaic cells, to help to reduce residents’ energy costs. The development, which is situated between Watford and St Albans, also boasts communal green spaces, play areas, cycle paths and footpaths.

Nataliia Sakharova, 34, and her four year old daughter, moved into a new two-bedroom flat at Bricket Wood in January. She said:

“Moving into our Clarion home marked the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. The homes themselves are very nice and the development is really well placed to get to local schools and transport links."
