Clarion Futures’ employment support programme has now placed more than 1,000 people into apprenticeships.

Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group, has announced that its employment support programme has now placed more than 1,000 people into apprenticeships.

The programme first launched in 2011 and is open to Clarion residents and people living in communities with a significant Clarion Housing presence. A record 250 people have been helped into apprenticeships in the last 12 months, taking the cumulative total to 1,005.

Clarion Futures’ 1,000th apprentice

Apprentice number 1,000 is Jessica Burch, a Clarion resident who recently started a finance apprenticeship in Norwich. Jessica was present at the annual Clarion Futures Apprenticeship Awards in London on 7 March, which celebrated the achievements of a number of apprentices and sponsoring employers across the country.

The event was attended more than 50 different employers and a representative from the Department of Education.

Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, minister of state for apprenticeships, commented:

"I congratulate Clarion on their achievement, it's great to see a housing association playing an important role in championing apprenticeships and supporting people into work"

Clarion Futures is a national charitable foundation and its Jobs and Training team works with employers across the country to identify apprenticeship opportunities and help candidates in Clarion communities to apply for the role.

More than 60% of the apprenticeships taken up this year have been in the construction sector, but significant numbers have been supported into roles in retail, health and beauty and business administration.

Committed to providing new opportunities

Complementing the work of Clarion Futures, Clarion Housing Group has also invested £400,000 into providing apprenticeship programmes for its own staff. There are now 143 employees of Clarion Housing Group on apprenticeship programmes, ranging from level 2 Business and Administration courses through to a Level 7 Senior Leader Master’s Degree.

Clare Miller, Group Chief Executive of Clarion, commented:

“I am proud that Clarion Housing Group is playing such an important role in promoting apprenticeships. We are an organisation committed to providing new opportunities for our staff and our residents, so we can help people to achieve their ambitions and maximise their potential.”
