Clarion Housing Group has secured a trio of new sites in Kings Hill, Kent, with planning permission for 166 homes, around two thirds of which are affordable.

The UK’s largest social landlord bought the 8.5 acre site in Kings Hill in March (w/c 18th March) from Rouse Kent Residential, a joint venture between Kent County Council and investor developers Liberty Property Trust.

The scheme has 24 social rent homes, 54 affordable rent homes, 34 shared ownership homes and 54 private sale homes. These include a mix of one-and two-bedroom flats and two-, three-and four-bedroom houses.

Building homes to meet diverse needs

Jenner Contractors has been appointed to build the homes and work on site is already underway. The first phase of the development will be completed by late 2020.

Ian Hagger, New Business & Partnerships Director (South) for Clarion, said:

“This exciting new development in Kings Hill demonstrates the Clarion commitment to building mixed and vibrant communities. We are proud to be delivering homes for social and affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale. To meet the housing crisis, we need to build homes that meet a diverse range of needs.”

Jane Harrison, director, Liberty Property Trust, said:

“We are delighted that Kings Hill continues to provide a quality location to help satisfy local housing needs.”

Elsewhere in Kent, the 300-home scheme at Conningbrook Lakes is progressing well. The first tranche of residents has already moved into their new homes at the Ashford development.
