Study with the Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research
- Affinity Sutton commissioned the Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research to assess an affordable rent model.
- Analysis of research by the Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research shows that charging an affordable rent (up to 80% of market rent) could increase the affordability of housing for thousands of families.
- The study compared Brighton and Hove, Bromley, Hertsmere, Mid Sussex and Plymouth.
Analysis of research by the Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research (CCHPR) in 2011 shows that charging a rent between social and market rent could ease the strain of soaring private rents for thousands of families if they are able to obtain a new housing association home.
However, those dependent on benefits and some working families would still find this new rent model unaffordable.
Please note this research was conducted prior to Affinity Sutton merging with Circle Housing to create Clarion Housing Group.
