Celebrating 10 Years of partnership and progress in Richmond
Recently, Clarion and London Square celebrated ten years of partnership with an event at Twickenham Square.
The development is located on the former Egerton Road campus of Richmond College, where 212 new homes are being delivered. Half of these will be affordable homes, offered through London Affordable Rent and Shared Ownership.
Designed to foster community, Twickenham Square will feature one-to-three-bedroom apartments with balconies or terraces, as well as family houses with private gardens. All homes are arranged around a central landscaped square, with pedestrian-friendly routes and public spaces enhancing neighbourhood connectivity.
At the event, guests toured the site and viewed the first homes under construction, gaining a first-hand insight into the positive impact of partnership working in promoting housing delivery in the borough. A ceremonial silver birch tree was planted just outside the marketing suite to symbolise partnership, growth, and sustainability.
Guests on the day included:
- Cllr Jim Millard, Deputy Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Finance and Resources;
- Cllr Chris Varley, Lead Member for Housing;
- Cllr Julia Neden-Watts, Deputy Leader of the Council;
- Cllr Phil Giesler, Lead Member for Business and Growth;
- Cllr Alex Ehmann, Ward Member for St Margaret's and Twickenham;
- Gavin Hughes, Principal of Richmond College;
- Liberty Vallance, Fundraising Partnerships Manager at Harlequins Foundation;
- Anne Newton, Chief Executive of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce.
Duncan Burns, Regional Director of Construction at Clarion Housing Group, said:
“Twickenham Square is a brilliant example of what we can achieve through meaningful, long-term partnerships. At Clarion, we’re proud to be working with London Square to deliver high-quality affordable homes that reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities. This scheme will help ensure more people in Richmond have access to a well-designed, sustainable and secure place to call home.”
Jo McDonagh, MD North at London Square, said:
“Twickenham Square is an outstanding project and demonstrates how effective partnerships can be in providing affordable homes alongside homes for sale. We have enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Clarion, delivering nearly 570 affordable homes over the past decade.”
