Clarion raises more than £100,000 for NSPCC in first year of partnership

The money has been raised through a wide range of events and activities, including participation in a Dragon Boat Race on the Thames, bake sales, and other office fundraisers.

Clarion Housing Group, the UK’s largest social landlord, has announced that it has exceeded its fundraising target for the first year of its three-year corporate partnership with the NSPCC.

Since the partnership was launched on Childhood Day in June 2024, £102,535 has been raised to support the NSPCC’s Building Connections service, which gives young people tools to help build their confidence and equip them to manage loneliness.

The money has been raised through a wide range of events and activities, including participation in a Dragon Boat Race on the Thames, bake sales, and other office fundraisers.

Celebrating our first year of partnership

From a 450km charity bike ride in Vietnam and Cambodia, to a Dragon Boat Race on the Thames, bake sales, office fundraisers, volunteering at Childline’s London base, and staff training through the NSPCC’s ‘Listen up, Speak up’ campaign — our colleagues have gone above and beyond to support children and young people across the UK.

Almost a third of the fundraising this year has been thanks to six members of Clarion’s development team based in Manchester who took on the 450km Saigon to Angkor Wat Bike Ride, raising more than £32,000 and becoming the NSPCC’s first corporate team to take on this challenge.

In addition to fundraising, during the year Clarion staff have volunteered more than 400 hours of their time, taking part in bucket collections and using their skills to make a difference. This included a team of operatives from Clarion’s in-house repairs service giving the debrief room at Childline’s London base a much-needed refresh, creating a more welcoming space for the volunteers who give up their time to provide free, confidential support to children and young people.

And as part of the NSPCC’s ‘Listen up, Speak up’ campaign, almost 300 Clarion staff members completed training which provides simple tips and advice on how to spot the signs of abuse and how to support children and families.

On Childhood Day (6 June) a team from Clarion took part in a Dragon Boat Race on the Thames to kickstart the second year of the partnership which aims to raise £125,000 for the NSPCC as the housing association marks its 125th anniversary.

Clare Miller, Chief Executive of Clarion Housing Group, said:

“As we mark our 125th anniversary, as well as reflecting on the past, we’re looking to the future, and we’re proud to be supporting the next generation through our partnership with the NSPCC.

“Thanks to all our colleagues, but especially the brave team of six who cycled from Vietnam to Cambodia, we’ve exceeded our fundraising target for the first year, and I’m excited to see how we make an even bigger difference over the next two years, both through fundraising and volunteering.”

Chris Sherwood, CEO of the NSPCC, said:

“The support of everyone at Clarion Housing Group has been incredible. To have engaged so well with Listen up, Speak up and to have raised such a tremendous amount in the first year of the partnership shows just how determined they are to support children and young people across the UK. Everyone at the NSPCC is hugely grateful for their support, and we look forward to seeing the fundraising challenges and events the Clarion teams take on in the next year of the partnership.”
