Clarion Housing Group named ‘Employer of the Year’ at Housing Heroes Awards 2025

The win underlines the organisation’s belief that building a strong internal culture is fundamental to delivering for residents, communities, and the wider housing sector.

Clarion Housing Group has been named ‘Employer of the Year’ at the prestigious Housing Heroes Awards 2025, in recognition of its sustained commitment to investing in people, driving inclusive culture, and supporting long-term organisational performance.

Winning this accolade in Clarion’s 125th anniversary year adds particular significance, underlining the organisation’s belief that building a strong internal culture is fundamental to delivering for residents, communities, and the wider housing sector.

The judges praised Clarion for demonstrating a clear passion for its workforce, underpinned by progressive employment practices, a robust development offer, and a genuine commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Since the launch of its People Strategy in 2021, Clarion has embedded a range of initiatives designed to support, retain and grow talent across the business.

Key highlights that led to the win include:

  • £523 per colleague invested in learning and development — well above the national average
  • 75% of vacancies filled internally, with 246 colleagues completing structured development in 2024
  • Sector-leading equality outcomes: -4.94% gender pay gap, 2.08% ethnicity pay gap
  • 96% of colleagues agree Clarion is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • 88% say they feel empowered at work, with 85% recommending Clarion as a great place to work
  • Recognised by Mindful Employer, Disability Confident, and Menopause-Friendly Employer accreditations
