Clarion secures planning approval for new homes in Mitcham
Merton Council has approved plans for Majestic Way, securing the regeneration of Mitcham town centre and 249 new homes.

Merton Council's Planning Committee has approved Clarion Housing Group's plans for Majestic Way, securing the regeneration of Mitcham town centre alongside 249 new homes, all for Social Rent.
The scheme will transform the high street with wider, greener public spaces, a stronger retail offer and new investment, bringing fresh footfall and activity to the heart of Mitcham.
The decision is a significant milestone for the Merton area, where more than 10,000 households are on the social housing waiting list. Every home at Majestic Way will be Social Rent, giving families and individuals most in need somewhere safe and truly affordable to live, and the opportunity to build a better future in the local area.

Majestic Way will deliver 249 new Social Rent homes at a time when they are needed more than ever, alongside a stronger high street and a new community space at the heart of the town centre. The scheme forms part of Clarion's wider transformation of Merton, a £2bn regeneration programme that will see over 2,800 homes built. Clarion already owns and manages around 10,000 homes in Merton, and will own, manage and maintain the new Majestic Way homes for the long-term, giving the organisation a lasting stake in the area’s success.
Alongside the new homes, the scheme will widen and green Majestic Way itself, delivering more than 400 square metres of community space offered rent-free, and modern, flexible retail space for a curated mix of local operators. Clarion has also committed £60,000 to support town centre projects while the scheme is built.
The application has been shaped by extensive engagement with Merton officers, local residents, the Design Review Panel and the Greater London Authority.
