"Our social purpose means investing in homes and in the people who live in them. Whether it’s making a home warmer, helping someone into work or providing support when money is tight, what matters is the difference we make to residents’ lives.
“This report shows the progress we’re making, but we know there is more to do. We’re here for the long term, working with residents and partners to build stronger communities and make sure our homes are fit for future generations.”
During the year, Clarion invested £453m in existing homes, completed 1,466 new homes and generated £155.9m in social value, including £125.2m through its charitable foundation, Clarion Futures. Together, these activities demonstrate the scale of its work to improve homes and support residents and communities.
With household finances under pressure and climate change affecting the places people live, this approach connects long-term investment with practical help for residents today.
Clarion invested more than £26m in energy efficiency improvements during 2025/26, including insulation, windows, heating upgrades and solar panels. These measures are estimated to save residents approximately £1.3m on energy bills and reduce carbon emissions by almost 4,000 tonnes. Of the approximately 96,000 homes where Clarion is responsible for energy efficiency, 80.3% are now rated EPC C or above.
This work forms part of the Group’s Climate Transition Plan, which sets out its pathway to becoming a net zero carbon organisation by 2050 while ensuring residents benefit from warmer, more energy-efficient homes.
Miles Lewis, Director of Sustainability at Clarion Housing Group, said:
“Sustainability continues to be a part of everyday decisions across Clarion, from how we improve and build homes to how we support communities and work with suppliers. This report shows the breadth of that work and the commitment of colleagues across the Group to putting it into practice.
“The effects of climate change are here now, alongside financial pressures facing many residents. We know there is more to do so we will stay focused, continuing to learn and work with residents and our partners to deliver lasting improvements.”
Through Clarion Futures, the Group supported 1,287 people into work, including 452 into green jobs, connecting residents to opportunities in the transition to a lower-carbon economy. It also provided one-to-one money guidance and energy advice to 5,818 residents and awarded 1,994 hardship grants, including food and energy vouchers.
The report also reflects the priorities identified in Clarion’s Five New Giants of Opportunity report: connection, resilience, sufficiency, trust and health. These are shaping the Group’s work to strengthen communities and respond to the social, economic and environmental challenges facing residents.
