Building inclusive communities for everyone
At Clarion Housing Group, we believe everyone deserves a safe, welcoming home where they can live with dignity and pride. Our support for the HouseProud LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Scheme reflects our broader commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
We know that many LGBTQ+ residents face unique challenges in their housing experiences—from subtle exclusion to outright discrimination. By supporting this scheme, we’re making it clear that LGBTQ+ inclusion is not optional; it’s essential.
About the Pledge Scheme
Launched by HouseProud in partnership with Stonewall Housing, the scheme is the UK’s first coordinated approach to improving LGBTQ+ experiences in social housing.
It responds directly to findings from No Place Like Home, a landmark study that revealed how often LGBTQ+ residents feel marginalised or unsafe. The Pledge gives housing providers a free, accessible way to commit to inclusive practice and drive meaningful change.

The commitments we’re making
By signing the Pledge, providers agree to show measurable progress within a year in three areas:
- Resident voice: Giving LGBTQ+ residents a real say in decisions that affect them
- Visible support: Demonstrating inclusion clearly across platforms and places
- Informed staff: Delivering training, so colleagues understand LGBTQ+ needs and offer confident, respectful services.
Clarion is committed to achieving Pledge Pioneer status and embedding these values at every level of our organisation.
We’re proud to fund the Pledge Scheme’s dedicated coordinator, who provides support and resources to participating landlords. This makes it easier for organisations—large or small—to embed LGBTQ+ inclusion in their policies, processes, and culture.
Our sponsorship keeps the scheme free to join and allows it to grow. This aligns closely with Clarion’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy and our mission to make a positive, lasting impact in every community we serve.
Empowering residents with support and resources
We are also committed to sharing the scheme’s national resource pack, which brings together trusted support organisations for LGBTQ+ people across the UK.
It includes services tailored to the needs of trans and non-binary individuals, people of colour, faith-based communities, and young people. These resources are essential for anyone seeking advice, connection or advocacy—and we’ll continue promoting them widely through our resident channels.
