Working at Clarion

A national employer

Clarion Housing Group is an employer of choice for thousands of people. We have a team around 4,000 strong, united in our mission to provide homes for those who need them most. Our people are not only our greatest asset, they are also a big part of what makes Clarion a great place to work.

We support our colleagues by giving them the resources they need to do their jobs, and trusting and supporting them in their actions.

We’re a large organisation, with a lot of different departments and a diverse range of jobs. But what binds our people together is their commitment to our social purpose.

Our people work in an inclusive environment where they can flourish and fulfil their potential.

Our headquarters is in central London. But with several offices around the country, and a presence in 170 local authorities, Clarion is probably closer to you than you think!

“Our focus is on improving people’s lives and we are trying to make a difference, so the roles that we recruit for and the people that we employ here have similar values and are committed to improving social housing.”

Peter Lawrence, Talent Acquisition Manager

Careers with a purpose

Clarion colleagues explain our culture, what it’s like to work at Clarion Housing Group, and how we invest in our people.

Valuing our differences

Having an inclusive workplace is all about valuing and embracing diversity - we want Clarion to be a place where you feel safe to be you.

As part of Black History Month, we asked colleagues to share their lived experiences and some of the challenges they have faced.

The five-minute video is a window into the lives of just a few colleagues – hearing about their culture, role models and the micro-aggressions they’ve experienced.

Equity, diversity and inclusion

Our people enjoy a safe space where they can be themselves.

We’re an employer for whom equity, diversity and inclusion are words with real meaning. Being an inclusive and diverse workplace where people are treated equally is business as usual at Clarion.

More than one in five of our staff are from ethnic minorities, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve. Women make up 55% of our workforce, and our Group Executive Team has equal numbers of men and women.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group monitors our progress against agreed targets and reviews new initiatives.

Staff stories

Promoting wellbeing

Our people are our greatest asset and their wellbeing is our top priority. Colleagues benefit from a 24-7 counselling service - part of our employee assistance and wellness programme.  They can also seek support from our in-house team of trained Mental Health First Aiders.

We use surveys to help measure levels of wellbeing among our people. Self-assessments enable colleagues to identify issues and take action.

We’re signed up to the Mental Health at Work Commitment, and the Mindful Employer charter, and promote NHS guidance on staying physically and mentally healthy.
